Daily Schedule:
7:30 AM – 9:00 AM: Latchkey Morning Session
Supervised free play and light activities to accommodate early arrivals.
9:00 AM – 9:30 AM: Breakfast
All participants gather for a nutritious meal to start the day.
9:30 AM – 10:00 AM: Morning Assembly
Icebreaker activities and group formation to foster a sense of community and prepare for the day's events.
10:00 AM – 10:55 AM: Vision Board Activity
Participants create vision boards to set personal goals and aspirations, segmented by age groups:

11:00 AM – 3:00 PM: Rotating Program Sessions
Participants rotate through various 45-minute sessions, each designed to provide educational enrichment and skill development:
STEM Workshops: Hands-on projects to encourage interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Financial Literacy: Interactive lessons on budgeting, saving, and basic financial concepts.
Career Development: Activities such as resume building, mock interviews, and discussions about various professions.
Leadership Training: Exercises to develop communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Recreational Activities: Physical activities including basketball, and field games to promote health and wellness.
Creative Arts: Sessions in arts and crafts, drumline, and gardening to foster creativity and self-expression.
Each age group will have a tailored rotation schedule to ensure age-appropriate engagement and learning.
12:00 PM – 1:30 PM: Lunch
Lunch breaks will be staggered by group to ensure a smooth transition and adequate supervision.
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM: Group Reflection and Planning
Participants reconvene in their groups to reflect on the day's activities, share experiences, and plan for upcoming events.
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM: Latchkey Afternoon Session
Supervised activities for participants awaiting pickup, including quiet games, reading, and socializing.
Group Labeling:
Participants will be divided into groups based on age to ensure developmentally appropriate activities:

Each group will have designated counselors who will accompany them throughout the day, providing guidance and support during all activities.
Our field trips are carefully curated to provide camp participants with hands-on experiences, exposure to diverse resources, and opportunities to develop essential skills that foster innovation. Each destination aligns with our camp’s mission to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving:
Discovery Green (June 25, 2025): Participants will explore this vibrant urban park, engaging in activities that promote teamwork, environmental awareness, and creative thinking. The park’s interactive art installations and community events encourage innovative approaches to urban spaces and sustainability.
Houston Space Center (July 2, 2025): A visit to this iconic center will ignite curiosity in STEM fields, offering insights into space exploration, technology, and engineering. Campers will learn about groundbreaking innovations and the importance of perseverance in solving complex challenges.
Dairy Ashford Roller Rink (July 9, 2025): This trip combines fun and learning as participants enjoy skating while also researching the setup and operations of a roller rink. Campers will:
Observe the rink’s layout, flooring, and equipment to understand the essentials of creating a functional space.
Identify key components needed to open a rink in their community, such as safety measures, rental skates, sound systems, and lighting.
Interview staff to learn about daily operations, maintenance, and customer service strategies.
Brainstorm innovative ideas to make their future rink unique, such as themed skate nights, community events, or eco-friendly practices.
While the focus is on research and innovation, participants will also have plenty of time to enjoy skating, fostering teamwork, physical activity, and fun!
African American History Research Center at the Gregory School (July 16, 2025): Campers will explore the rich cultural heritage and contributions of African Americans, gaining a deeper understanding of history and its impact on innovation. This trip encourages critical thinking, cultural awareness, and the importance of diverse perspectives in driving progress.

During the two-week training period, youth interns will undergo a comprehensive program designed to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in their roles while also developing innovative business proposals aligned with our camp’s focus areas. The training will combine leadership development, professional readiness, and hands-on application, culminating in a competitive pitch process where interns will form teams and bid for the opportunity to provide services to the camp.

During the training period, interns will be divided into groups and tasked with developing a business proposal to provide services aligned with our camp’s focus areas. Interns can bid to either work in various camp positions or offer services in the following areas to younger participants, using the knowledge they acquire during training. All services will be supervised to ensure quality:
STEM Workshops: Hands-on projects to encourage interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
Financial Literacy: Interactive lessons on budgeting, saving, and basic financial concepts.
Career Development: Activities such as resume building, mock interviews, and discussions about various professions.
Leadership Training: Exercises to develop communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
Recreational Activities: Physical activities including basketball and field games to promote health and wellness.
Creative Arts: Sessions in arts and crafts, drumline, and gardening to foster creativity and self-expression.
Process:
Interns will pitch their business ideas, explaining why their chosen topic aligns with the camp’s needs and how it will benefit participants.
Once leads are selected, teams will develop a detailed proposal, including a plan for delivering services, tracking participant satisfaction, and submitting weekly invoices with data proving services were rendered.
The winning team(s) will have the opportunity to implement their business during the camp, gaining real-world experience in entrepreneurship and service delivery.
Through this training and business development process, interns will gain:

Professional Readiness: Experience in resume building, interview preparation, and workplace responsibility.
Entrepreneurship: Knowledge of how to develop, pitch, and implement a business idea.

In addition to the business development component, interns will also have the opportunity to apply for the following roles during the camp:
Administration: Managing camp operations and logistics.
Latchkey: Supervising campers during before and after-care sessions.
Food Specialist: Assisting with meal preparation and distribution.
Media & Communication: Capturing camp activities and managing communications.
Maintenance & Janitorial: Ensuring the camp facilities are clean and functional.
Camp Counselors: Leading and mentoring campers through daily activities.
This training program is designed to empower youth interns with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to succeed in their roles while fostering innovation and entrepreneurship. By combining hands-on training with real-world business development, we aim to prepare our interns for future success in both their careers and communities.
